Coglin Mill's leading edge RODIN Data Warehousing product is currently being migrated to run on many other popular hardware / software platforms and databases.
RODIN is the leading ETLM tool for the IBM AS/400, with many large sophisticated implementations with Fortune 500 companies. Data warehouses in excess of 2 terabytes are already implemented and running live.
Coglin Mill has signed an agreement with Crossworks Inc. of Minneapolis MN, to migrate RODIN to other popular technologies. Using Cross400 from CrossWorks Inc. all existing RODIN code can be easily migrated to run on the supported hardware / software platforms and databases. This not only includes the migration of all the RODIN code but also the code RODIN generates from the customer's ETL definitions, immediately after these definitions are created or maintained on the customer's machine. Full details about Cross400 are available at www.cross-works.com.
The required Cross400 code to allow RODIN and the customer generated code to run on a non-AS/400 platform is integrated to and supplied with the RODIN code when installed. There are no licensing, technical or other support implications for the customer. It is totally transparent.
The migration of the RODIN code (V3R2000) to the first platform / database, which will be undertaken jointly by CrossWorks and Coglin MIll staff, typically only takes a few weeks. Subsequent migrations, to other supported platforms / databases or to migrate a new RODIN release to an existing platform / database, which can and will be completed by Coglin Mill staff, typically take only a few hours.
This means there will be no delay in making RODIN available to customers on non-AS/400 platforms as new platforms, databases and RODIN software releases become available. It also means Coglin Mill can continue to develop RODIN for and on the AS/400 and then very quickly migrate the latest code to the other supported platforms / databases.
As well as the AS/400, other platforms and databases to be supported will include AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX and Windows NT using UDB, Oracle or SQL Server (as and where available). The first cab off the rank will be IBM's RS/6000 (SP2) running AIX and Universal Database (UDB).
Coglin Mill is currently interested in talking to potential beta sites who wish to build their data warehouse on any of the abovementioned platforms / databases. For more information please send us an email at giving details of your chosen or prefered platform / database along with contact information. |
