RODIN Version 4 Release 1, soon to be available, introduces some exciting and powerful new features in several important areas of the system. In many cases these enhancements are a direct result of customer requests. Industry trends and directions also impact new features and functions.
Major highlights in V4R1 include :-
- A new optional data sourcing module that allows RODIN to directly source data from many non-iSeries databases and file systems without the need to license, integrate or learn other middleware products.
- Optional SQL naming standards for users who are more familiar with or prefer to use SQL naming conventions than native iSeries conventions.
- Versioning and change control provides better management of the development process all the way through to moving new objects and software into the production environment.
- Significant performance improvements in the client have been achieved through better and more efficient use of memory.
- Many other enhancements that provide new or improved functionality, ease of use and management control and security.
V4R1 of RODIN is currently undergoing final system testing and packaging and is expected to be available in November 2002. All existing customers currently covered by a maintenance agreement are eligible to receive the new version of the base modules at no charge. The new optional data sourcing module is available for a fee.
